Backing with Milli

Milli is the youngest member of this beautiful family at Cuyuac. Here in this area they first graders get one day off school every week during the first months. Millis day off is on Wednesday and since her mother works that today, I got to spend the day baking and playing with her.

We made two chocolate cakes and an Apple crumble one. They have chucks on the farm so we get fresh eggs everyday. The also have lots of fruit tress like, apples, pears, plums, figs, lemons and a lot of other ones. I love cooking here with all the fresh products.

Someone had been licking the bowl :D

Cuyuac Pirctures

Working on the farm, I got to learn how to drive with a trailer. Nothing special except driving backwards which is quite difficult sometimes. I am proud I can now say I can backwards the car anywhere I want (still need some time though :D)

Simon in the sheep yards pushing up the ship to be weight and drafted. I really enjoy doing this because we get to work with work dogs that have amazing skills. One good trained dog can replace several farm hands. Not so good trained dogs can be more work though.

Back at Cuyuac Farm

We got to Cuyuac farm last Tuesday and started working on Wednesday. The farmer here has plenty of work for us to do, so he is keeping us very busy. We have been doing quite a bit of fencing and had to weigh many many sheep. Early next week a big truck will come and pick up around 350 lambs that are being sold to supermarkets. We weight them and drafted them to sell only the heavier ones. Drafting sheep depending on their weigh is not only done to sell the better ones, but also so the farmer can put them in different paddocks depending on how much feed they need or to get a rough idea on how good the sheep are doing in a certain paddock.

Pictures coming soon. :)

Last days at the Grampians

Today we left the Grampians to go to Arapiles, we will only spend a day here to show Michael and Michaela a bit of Arapiles, tomorrow we will go our favorite farm - Cuyuac. In the last couple days we have been trying to get the most out of the Grampians. Simon finally finished a V6 boulder and nearly got a V8.
Yesterday on our last day at the Grampians we went for a long hike. We walked all the way to the beautiful worldwide known Taipan wall, climbed up to the top of that area, walked all the way to Tribute wall and the back to our camp. It took us all day, but we had lots of fun.

Adelaide

In Adelaide we got to stay at a friends house. Erich should us around in Adelaide and drove with us to many different places to explore the area.

I finally got to sea a koala, it was funny when it happened we were just saying that we hadn't seen one and a woman past by and tells us that right next to us on a tree is a koala. It was a great day.

Beautiful scenery from the top of Mt Lofty, overlooking Adelaide.

Pink Lake

Mogli, Michaela and I left the Grampians, Victoria about two weeks ago, on January 23rd. Simon didnt want to come, I am sure whenever he does decide to leave the Grampians he will have a heart attack :P
Our first stop was the beautiful pink lake. None of us was really expending to see a pink colored lake, we did know though that it was full of salt. A salty pink lake! We were amazed by the scenery and the huge amount of salt everywhere. On the coast the salt was all dried out and hard on the ground, it was a funny feelling walking on it. Then the crust started to brake and warm water was under it. The further you went into the lake the more loose salt there was, it was like walking on pink snow but not as soft and smooth.
